Friends of the Ouachita Trail is planning our 9th Annual Fall Maintenance Event. Same as last year, the event will be held at the U.S. Forest Service Campground at Cedar Lake in Oklahoma, west of Rich Mountain off Highway 270. The USFS is once again providing the Shady Lane area of the campground Thursday night (October 23) through Sunday morning. Meals will be furnished for our volunteers on Friday (burgers) and Saturday (BBQ) nights at the North Shore Pavilion.
Volunteers will muster Friday & Saturday mornings at 8:00 a.m. near the Shady Lane restrooms for safety orientation and work assignments. The two evening meals will be served at 5:00 p.m. Participants are welcome to come for just part of the event or the entire weekend. FoOT’s annual meeting will be held after the Saturday meal. Everyone is welcome to attend to hear about current and future plans.

Please come prepared for a comfortable day in the woods (sturdy footwear, favorite gloves, backpack for water & snacks). We will have ear protection, safety glasses and safety helmets available for those who would like to run power equipment. Feel free to bring your favorite trail maintenance tools if you wish. FoOT will be bringing our inventory of tools and equipment.
We are looking forward to another fun event for the upkeep and improvement of the Ouachita Trail. Many of our volunteers support FoOT individually or in small groups during the year. This is such a wonderful opportunity to come together with existing friends and new friends to contribute some sweat equity and exchange some ideas and laughs in support of the trails of the Ouachitas.
